Virgil E. Huggins

Virgil E. Huggins, 69, of Pinckneyville, passed away at 9:00 A.M., Tuesday, May 18, 2004 at his residence.
Virgil had been a coal miner working on a belt line at Freeburg Mine and had also worked in timber.  He was of the Protestant faith.  He was a member of Moose Lodge 930 Pinckneyville.
He was born March 14, 1935 at Cutler, IL, the son of Vallie E. and Dorothy A. (Woodside) Huggins.
He married Helen L. Taylor on August 29, 1955 at Chester, IL and she survives.
He is survived by his wife of Pinckneyville, three daughters - Louise Irvin, Carolyn Goodman and husband John and Loretta Wade, all of Pinckneyville, three sons - Calvin Huggins and wife Merry of Willisville, Mike Huggins and Keith Huggins and wife Wanda, all of Pinckneyville, two brothers - Vernon Huggins and wife Anetta and Vallie E. Huggins and wife Ruth, all of Pinckneyville, two sisters - Doris Eslinger and husband Chuck of Tamaroa and Fay Clark and husband Henry of Du Quoin, nineteen grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons - Virgil Edward Huggins and James Steven Huggins, one sister - Alvera Huggins and one granddaughter.
Funeral services were at 10:30 A.M., Friday, May 21, 2004 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Raymond Baggott officiating.
Friends called from 5 to 8 P.M., Thursday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.
Interment was in the Holts Prairie Cemetery at Pinckneyville.
